Jacob just completed his first realy race. It is the Wasatch Back and is 172 miles that runs from Logan to Park City in the back country. It is twenty four hour race and each team has 12 runners. Each runner completes three legs ranging from 3 miles to 6 miles and from flat to 8% grade. Jacob was runner 10 and ran the steepest up hill section. He actually volunteered for that part. He has been training for the past 4 months and was is great shape. He did very well on his runs. His team completed the race in 28 hours. They had estimated 23 hours, so they were a little over, but some of the runners had been asked to fill in only days before. He recovered well and is ready to go again.
This is his team. They are all from his National Gaurd Unit.
Jacob didn't get any picture of himself at an exchange, but here are some of his teamates completing an exchange.
Jacob's aunt Janet is a massage therapist who went with them to help out during the run. He helped her move earlier in the month and she agreed to do this as a thank you for helping. His team loved having her there. She did a 5 minute warm-up and then a 10 minute cool down for each runner. Sometimes they were in a hurry to get to the next exchange and had to skip, but when they did get a massage they said it really helped.
I am very proud of him for how seriously he completed his training and how well he did on his runs. Maybe next year we can do it together!

WOW! That looks awesome. Way to go Jacob! Alisha, just let me know when you're up for another marathon!
Congrats Jacob on your Relay! Gary might do that relay if it was on a dirt bike. :)
