I love floaties!

I love having a swimming pool to go to as often as we want. We go 3-4 times a week and love it. I am very happy to have two kids who are confident around water. I just throw on the arm floaties and they are good to go.
We have had a couple incidents where they forgot they didn't have them on and jumped in. I was in the pool with Rylie both times she did it and got to her immediately. Mason, however, was not so fortunate.
We had just gotten to the pool and I was still talking to Jacob on the cell phone. Mason was walking very close to the edge and I told him twice to come here. Then he just looked at me and jumped (with his little rain boots still on). The next few things happened in less than a second--I yelled (while still on the phone) Mason no, no, NO, NO, NO--ran over the edge and wondered if he would surface and I could just reach down and grab him--decided I had better not wait and jumped in (with my pants and shoes on)--pulled Mason out and realized I grabbed him upside down and his feet were out (with cute green boots still on) and his head was still under--quickly flip him around--SAVED. Thanks to Olivia, Mason knows how to hold his breath and he was just fine. While I was pulling him up I looked over a saw something black on the bottom of the pool. I thought "how did my phone end up in here, I really hope that's not it." Well it was and after a week of drying it still didn't work. Luckily I had an old one that the store resurrected for me. Jacob had to wait a whole hour before I got ahold of him to tell him Mason was OK. He just heard the NO, NO, NO and big splash then silence.
The next time Mason jumped in (with floaties) he hesitated just a second, mid jump, then was happy to see he floated right up like usual.

GREAT new website

A friend has unveiled this amazing website to me and I want to share it with the two of you who care enough to check up on us.
thepioneerwomancooks.com
She is quite funny and includes pictures with every step of her recipies. She has all sorts of things besides cooking too. Check it out when you need something new for dinner.

Just in case you were wondering Jacob gets home in 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a new dilema. This is something I didn't grow up with and I am not sure how to handle. We live right by the playground in our apartment complex and so do a lot of other families with small children. When Rylie and Mason go outside to play, and I stay inside by the window working on something, they always come back minutes later with a friend who now wants to play inside and eat all of our food. The two girls who are the "usuals" are very nice and play well with Rylie, I just can't handle two extra children in my house. I only let them in 1 out of 10 times they ask and don't ever feed them. But then they run to their house and get yogurt or popsicles or anything and Rylie ends up with one too. So I am the mean mom and their mom is nice. I need to be able to let me kids play outside without having the neighborhood banging on my door. What do I do? How do I balance letting Rylie have friends and keeping them at bay?

Funny things Rylie says

To my mom,
"What in the world. Did you know I can say that Nana?" - complete with facial expression and hand gestures.
Carson wanted Rylie to jump to him from the firplace ledge and she said no three times before we asked why. . .
"because I'm a Lady" - once again complete with facial expression and gestures.
To me,
"I hate you mom, well really I like you."
After watching me try on clothes at the store,
"I don't like this dress. It looks funny on me." - It took me a while to figure out where that one came from.

What we learned in Idaho

I have noticed that we all came back to New Mexico with some new talents. After watching and occasionally helping my mom I have learned how to get a lot more done in a day. I am amazed that I don't feel so bogged down by all there is to do in the day and my house looks slightly more organized on a daily basis rather than once a month. Mason learned how to swim (from Olivia). All three of the kids, Rylie, Mason and Olivia, would want to have a bath in my parent's big tub. Even when I had Mason in his PJ's he would find the girls and beg them to let him in. Olivia likes to hold her breath under the water for as long as she can and she taught them both how to plug their noses and put their heads in the water. This is great because we go swimming about every other day at our apartment pool. I can just put their floaties on and watch them both go. Rylie's new talent is not so great though. She picked up a few 3rd grade words that I am not ready for my 3 year old to be saying. "Don't be a copy cat" and "Duh". Tonight she was saying "duh" in the car and then another little person started saying it with the exact same intonation. Mason only says about 5 words and he chose to add that one. REALLY, I have been trying so hard on animals, body parts, and vehicles, but no, he picks up on that one in two seconds. Maybe I should hand over his speech sessions to Olivia and Rylie and he would be learning much more.
We also cuddled cute kittens.

My cousin Tyler and his family were staying at my mom and dad's house, and his daughter Sydney loved the kittens too.

Baby Boy

We are having a BOY. Jacob and I are totally shocked. For some reason we were very sure this was a girl. Boys are great too and we are happy to have another one. He is perfectly healthy and growing great. This is good news since I won't be seeing a doctor until July 11 and I will be 28 weeks. I have had a lot of problems with this new insurance. I have been to two separate doctors in the last 2 weeks and at the last minute (after arranging a babysitter and arriving at the office and waiting for the doctor) they haven't been able to see me. The first was actually not a baby doctor, just a family practitioner. He sent me to his wife, who I thought the appointment was with in the first place, in a different building. When I arrived at her office the next week her body guard receptionist wouldn't let me in without a referal, to tell me I'm pregnant, from my family practicioner. That's funny because that was who I saw last week, but the appointment didn't count because it was canceled due to it being the wrong doctor. I am glad I was able to get into the ultrasound because I know the baby is healthy and don't mind waiting until July to have my first appointment. I hope they let me in when we go to the hospital and don't require a referal to tell me I am in labor. Then I would really lose it. Just had to vent a little.
