Bounteous Harvest (kind of)

We just returned from a great trip to Utah/Idaho. Jacob had an extended drill for the National Guard this past week so we made a trip out of it and all went. We spent the weekend in Utah and then the kids and I headed to Idaho for the week. I had great plans of shopping and making applesauce. My mom saved me a ton of apples my dad had brought from the neighbor's trees. All I had to do was bring my bottles. We laughed that I should have taken some pictures of the applesauce making for a great blog post, but I didn't. When I got home and we unpacked everything from the car I realized how much we had "harvested" from my parent's. I decided it was blog worthy to take a picture and post how lucky we were to visit this time of year. Most of it was piled high in the garage and we just loaded it up. All we had to do was drive for a day to pick it up and drive for a day to get it back home.

Here is a list of everything we received:

From Mom and Dad: red potatoes, brown potatoes, carrots, beets, spaghetti squash, hubbard squash, beef, tons of applesauce and apple pie filling, mustard pickles, dill pickles, RASPBERRY JAM, not pictured: clothes from Olivia for Rylie.

From Grandpa Walters: variety potatoes, red potatoes (that I left at his house so mom gave me hers)

From Robyn, my sister-in-law: cute "Mormon" star decorated so it is not like everyone else's.

My mom also went with me shopping. I only get the bug to shop about once every two years and it was this weekend. I never thought I would be going to Idaho to shop at the "big" stores, but shopping in Wyoming doesn't offer much. I was looking for everyone, but mostly bought things for myself!

I think we will visit in October more often!

I love going to my parents' house at "harvest" time. They always send us home with much bounty. Cute pictures, all of them!

I am sad we were not there this Oct, the first one in many. I see the bucket of Raspberry jam and am very jealous.
You will have to come and visit us soon.
